Of the redeeming traits of Fox Van Allen, it is his unusual ability to sense the migratory paths of arctic terns within a 500-mile radius that has led to his success. Fox Van Allen can also boast that when he cooks an omelet, four out of five of them are not burned. Fox Van Allen also writes the Wednesday edition of Spiritual Guidance. Unfortunately, today is not Wednesday, and instead you will have to contend with Dawn Moore, a young woman whose super powers include predicting upcoming traffic junctions by suddenly feeling worried that she missed them, and an immunity to skunk spray. Dawn Moore writes also about healing for discipline and holy priests.

When I was in sixth grade, everyone made fun of me. I’m not quite sure why, as there was nothing particularly noticeable about me at the time. I was very average: quiet, didn’t get straight A’s and looked about as ridiculous as everyone else at that age. For whatever reason though, I got picked out among the throng of students to be the kid who gets stuff thrown at her in the dressing rooms, has trash shoved into her locker and is called all sorts of names that none of us actually knew the definitions to. The oddest thing about it was that the students who harassed me most were people I didn’t even know. I didn’t know their names, had never talked with them and only had maybe one class with them — so it’s not like any of them knew anything about me to justify what they were doing. At this point in my life, the only guess I’ve got is that making fun of me was the cool thing to do at the time.

Nowadays, I’m not sure if making fun of me is still the cool thing to do, but regardless, the reason I bring up the story today is because I’ll be talking about Lightwell. Don’t see the connection? Well the way I see it, Lightwell and I are kindred spirits. After all, Lightwell is the kid no one wants to be friends with, out of fear of suffering the same ridicule by association. Lightwell is so unpopular it doesn’t even get the chance to be picked last in gym class; instead, the teachers have Lightwell sit in the office and do worksheets, since the last time they let it play with the other kids they found it collapsed behind the bleachers with a bloody nose.

Well, Lightwell, I love you. I see past the trash talk and the ridicule. I see you and your individuality. You haven’t given up, and I haven’t given up on you either. So today, I’m going to try and make everyone see what I see in you. Mon chéri, je t’aime.

Not sure what flowcharts have to do with World of Warcraft? Well, in truth, very little… unless they’re World of Warcraft flowcharts, of course. I Like Bubbles‘ Flowchart Friday inspired me to hunt around for more WoW-related flowcharts — to the conclusion that there aren’t anywhere near enough of the helpful things. So I did what I always do in such situations: I asked the WoW.com team to contribute their flowcharts to the effort. I’ll leave you, however, to judge the results.

• We’ll start off with I Like Bubbles regular flowcharting efforts. Here’s how to upgrade your holydin’s gear, leveling as a herbalist, and a Venn diagram (which is not technically a flowchart, but close enough) that explains PUGs.
• Then there’s the classic simplified cat DPS flowchart.

Love is in the Air ends just before midnight server time tonight. Which means that today is your last day to get your Love Fool title and to try for the naughty, naughty Big Love Rocket Mount.

This is also your last chance to:

• Go take a ride on a love boat in Stormwind City or The Undercity.
• Have a drunken fling with Jeremiah Payson.
• Gorge yourself on chocolates.
• Get yourself a Lovely Black Dress.
• Share a chocolate treat at a romantic picnic with a friend.

Warning: sometimes events end a little bit before the time in the calendar, so don’t wait until the very last minute to get everything you want done.

I am so excited about the Meet and Greet. Many, many of my fellow WoW.com staffers have said they will be there sometime during the pre-event mixer. We’ll be hanging out by the fountain in the Court of the Sun, Silvermoon City until 5:30pm. Then we’ll start the Love is in the Blog event proper.

If you were like me and had the wonderful fortune last year to complete the Love is in the Air meta-achievement Fool for Love, there is some interesting news for you. Upon logging on this morning I noticed that the achievements for Charming, Nation of Adoration, and Dangerous Love were completed for me on the date I had originally earned the meta-achievement, last year. Is this a bug or Blizzard’s way of allowing those of us who already completed the meta-achievement to not worry about the new holiday tasks?

We would love some more confirmation from people who completed the Fool for Love meta-achievement last year, but at this moment, it seems like we have a little less work to do this holiday season. More love rockets for me to annoy my raids with…

Disclaimer; we are by no means certain that Love Is In the Air is still going to function the same way it did last year. This FAQ covers all of the questions we typically got surrounding the holiday’s traditional mechanics, with notes concerning ones we think Blizzard has changed. In the hours after the holiday goes live, I’ll be updating both this and our OverAchiever guide to the holiday’s achievements extensively to ensure they are accurate for new and returning readers, so don’t look at this as anything other than an ambitious placeholder!

Update: We’re getting early reports from Oceanic servers that Blizzard has changed or removed many of the RNG elements — it looks like most of the items needed for the holiday will be purchaseable with Love Tokens, which are rewards from new dailies. More to follow soon.

Help! Where do I go to get started?

Head for any of your faction’s major cities; new NPCs will have popped up in the more heavily-trafficked areas (read: AH/bank areas) with quests and information on the holiday, and many old NPCs will be a little more interactive.

Why won’t this guard/NPC give me anything? Why are they telling me I don’t smell good?

You’re either not wearing cologne/perfume at all, or wearing the wrong kind. Female guards/NPCs will respond to a player wearing cologne; male guards/NPCs will respond to a player wearing perfume. Whether your character is male or female doesn’t matter as long as they’re wearing the right stuff.
